Picture of Manuel LemosHello,

Finally the PHP Classes site was moved to a new host server. This time is a server that is part of a project yet to be publically revealed that meant to host Open Source projects like this.

The good part is that it is a Linux 2.4.x based server that is for now not so busy as the Solaris 2.8 virtual server where it used to be hosted. So the site should really fly now!

As part of the migration the official domain name was changed to www.phpclasses.org, not www.phpclasses.com nor www.phpclasses.net. That is something else.

All accesses to the old domain phpclasses.UpperDesign.com are redirected automatically. Since DNS transfer will take some time to propagate, you may experience some domain name resolving failures. In that case just replace the domain with www.phpclasses.org and that will work ok. The old domain will point to the new IP for backwards compatibility, but from now on, please avoid using it.

As a consequence of the change, the session cookies for the old domain will not be sent by your browsers to the new domain. So you may need to login again to set new session cookies if you want the site to remember your accesses.

With the new host, I will also be able to approve new classes more promptly. I would like to apologise and ask for a little more patience to the authors that have submitted their classes that are still pending for approval (about 18 now).

Finally I would like to thank so much to Larry Rosenman and Mike Trentor for having previously hosted the qmail servers that were used to deliver the site notification messages.

Regards, Manuel Lemos
